The state of recent Jersey have been stuck in a holding pattern for several years in the case of their casino gambling industry. Atlantic City casinos have seen revenue slip in most months because the 2008 economic recession, and it occurred again in July.Revenue at city casinos was down 6.5% from the similar period in 2010. The $340.3 million that was won by the casinos represented the worries that town has had in attracting gamblers in recent times. Neighboring states have slowly stolen much of the business that AC casinos were used to.The revenue decline in 2011 has ended in a renewed debate involving online gambling regulations. Senator Raymond Lesniak has led the charge for online casinos, and he even persuaded lawmakers to pass a web-based gambling bill earlier this year. The bill was vetoed by Governor Chris Christie.After seeing the July revenue figures, Christie and other legislators could have to reconsider their position on Internet gambling. The Conservative governor was pressured by members of his own party to veto the web gambling legislation this year, but there’s a growing collection of residents within the state that wish to see the AC casino industry saved.Pennsylvania has become the highest gaming destination within the Northeast since lawmakers legalized table games last year. Analysts have predicted that by the top of 2012, Pennsylvania could have surpassed New Jersey because the top revenue producing casino state at the East Coast.New Jersey and Nevada, the 2 states that had defined casino gambling within the US for lots of years, are both struggling as a result of a rise in competition. The commercial recession has caused lawmakers in dozens of states to legalize casinos. New Jersey and Nevada are hoping to stick prior to the curve by regulating online casinos before other states.In 2006, the AC casino industry was booming, winning over $5 billion from gamblers. The recession, however, quickly changed the fate of the industry, and in 2010 revenue dropped the entire option to $3.57 billion. Up to now in 2011, AC casino revenue is down almost seven percent for the primary seven months of the year.The impact that Pennsylvania has had at the AC casinos can also be seen within the breakdown of the July revenue. Slot revenue was down only three percent for the eleven casinos within the city, while table game revenue dropped fifteen percent.August 10, 2011
